The Wiltshire Improvement Partnership (WIP), formed in 2006 and disbanded in 2008, was concerned with improving partnership working in Wiltshire. The Board, many of whom were closely involved with other partnerships and specific project officer groups, met once a month.
The Partnership was involved with four projects: Equality & Diversity; Governance; Member Development and Member Development - Community Engagement. Since disbanded of the partnership in March 2008, these projects have continued independantly under the leadership of the relevant officer groups.
In July 2007, the Secretary of State for Communities & Local Government announced that she was minded to implement Wiltshire towards unitary status, following a bid by Wiltshire County Council. This means that the county's four district councils and the Council Council will merge to form the Wiltshire Council in April 2009.
The decision letter received by the County Council and copied to the districts highlighted the proposals in the phase one Governance report as a particular strength. That letter can be viewed here. For more information on the transition, click the link below.
It has been agreed that the role of the projects in the transition will be to ensure the work of the Partnership continues to have a legacy within the new arrangements. Further details on this work can be found here.
