Background

In 2006, the Young Foundation undertook project work in the pilot areas of Malmesbury, North Wiltshire, and Trowbridge, West Wiltshire. The aim was to assist WIP in better understanding what support councillors from all tiers want and need to work within local communities more effectively.

Work & progress

As part of the transition to One Council, the Community Leadership and Governance workstream Board are working to create 20 Community Boards for the County. These Boards will form the basis of much of the local engagement between the community and the council, with the elected Members working between the two.

The initial pilot Boards are currently being established, with the support for the workstream and WIP, and are due for testing and evaluating at the end of the autumn. Further information on the Boards can be viewed here.
